Fragrance guide

Heat makes every fragrance louder. A scent that feels cozy in December can turn heavy and cloying in July, so summer calls for lighter styles: citrus, aquatic notes, green tea, light woods and clean musk.

These are the fragrances in our catalog that suit hot weather best, for men and women, at every price.

How we picked. We took the fragrances in our catalog with the highest summer suitability and ranked them by that score and by how many occasions they cover. Prices are typical US retail prices and may differ at checkout.

Frequently asked questions

Why do fresh fragrances fade faster in summer?

Citrus and aquatic notes are made of light molecules that evaporate quickly, and heat speeds that up. Reapplying once in the afternoon is normal, and spraying on clothes helps the scent last longer.

Which notes should I avoid in hot weather?

Heavy vanilla, amber, tobacco, leather and very sweet gourmand notes. They are designed for cold air and can feel overwhelming in the heat.

How many sprays should I use in summer?

Two or three is enough for most fresh fragrances. With a strong one, a single spray on the chest is plenty.
